The Dolphins may have dropped Redcliffe from their name but the NRL’s newest team will honour their proud history by wearing a heritage jersey inspired by those worn by the club in the 1980s.

Newly appointed coach Wayne Bennett helped Dolphins CEO Terry Reader launch the jersey at Suncorp Stadium, where the club also announced Adventure Kings as their major sponsor for the next four years.

Reader said the Dolphins’ home and away jersey would be launched ahead of their 2023 entry to the Telstra Premiership, but the club also intended to play one match each season in the red and white heritage jersey, which includes gold hems.

“It's based on the iconic 1980s jersey of the Redcliffe Dolphins, honouring our history and we're really proud of that," Reader said.

"We know it will be well-received and it’s something the club wanted to do because they’ve been working for this for many years and especially over the last 30 years since the Broncos came in.
